“When I was around the age of 11 I was diagnosed with a heart murmur that wasn’t that bad. As time went on my condition developed into Left Ventricular Tachycardia and Left Ventricular Non Compaction Cardiomyopathy which again wasn’t the worst but it was disheartening ( Pun intended). During one of my bi annual appointments at the Texas Children’s, Ms.Corey, an organizer of HwH and one of the greatest nurses on this earth, told my family and I about HwH and their camp. I went to my first camp I believe in the fall of my sophomore year of high school and was able to harvest not only a wonderful ram but a gorgeous Oryx that needed to be culled from the herd. I’ve done so much with HwH some don’t believe me but I truly love this organization and everyone in it.” – Evan Sellers

“My name is Broghan Hill.  I was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, but my parents didn’t find out until I was 11 days old.  I was care flighted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.  My parents were told that I was a miracle from God because I wasn’t even supposed to take my first breath.  I underwent my first open heart surgery at 15 days old and my second open heart surgery at 4 months old.  At 17 months, my parents were told that I would need a heart transplant.  My family and I moved to Houston when I was two years old.  We had only been in Houston for 16 days when I received my heart transplant.  I have also been diagnosed with epilepsy, tethered spine syndrome, along with nerve & joint damage.  I will be 18 this summer, and I am 15 ½ years post heart transplant.  I love reading books, talking to my friends, and I am a huge fan of Disney World.

When Miss Corey mentioned Hunt with Heart, I was really nervous & wasn’t sure if I wanted to go.  I am so glad I went because I made lifelong friends.  Kenna Mae & Madeline were my roommates, and we had so much fun.  I love that we still keep in touch.  I had never hunted before, much less shot a gun.  Tim (my guide) was so kind & patient with me.  I even shot my very first ram.  I always look forward to seeing everyone at the HWH events.  The friendships and memories that I have from Hunt with Heart will never be forgotten.”
